Do we really need another social browser?
RockMelt popped on the scene with a new social browser. The first question is why would I need another browser? Visiting the beta site I was prompted to enter my Facebook Connect to be given early access, however I’m not the biggest user of Facebook. In fact when I think of my friends who I would consider heavy Facebook users, many of them are still using IE and have trouble syncing their iPods from time to time. RockMelt would never even fall on these users radars.
And from the screenshots it looks like Facebook is central to the browser experience, but like I said I don’t really use Facebook. So outside of the few techies that are also heavy Facebook users I’m not sure who RockMelt is targeted at. Flock already failed, I expect the same for RockMelt.
